Lisa Slone Moss is the Founder and Chief Gift Wiz at Cocoa Crayon. Armed with the philosophy that life’s too short to clutter our lives with things that don’t bring us joy, convenience, and a sense of pride, she created her business in 2003 encompassing that very ideal.

Moss was born in Vancouver, Canada. Her path to her e-tailing present has been driven by her keen sense of style, creative eye, entrepreneurial spirit, and industry experience in fashion, health and fitness, beauty, design, marketing, and magazine editorial.

Moss worked in marketing before moving to London in 1996 to work for Condé Nast Publications. Specifically, Moss was part of the small editorial team responsible for the conception and launch of the British Condé Nast titles online, beginning with Vogue and continuing to include Tatler, GQ, The World of Interiors, House & Garden, and Condé Nast Traveler.

In 1999, Moss moved from London to New York City where she worked as a freelance writer for several Hearst and Condé Nast print publications before taking a permanent post with Loréal USA in Corporate Marketing and PR.

In 2001, Moss had her first child and took motherhood as an opportunity to turn her passion into a business. She pulled together some unique and fabulous things for babies and small children in her Upper East Side apartment to create a trunk show, called on friends in the neighborhood, and hoped a few chic Manhattan mamas would show up. And they did.

Cocoa Crayon was born. The response was astounding and news of Cocoa Crayon quickly spread. Elegantly wrapped Cocoa Crayon packages began landing on doorsteps; first around town and then around the globe.

Moss is an avid runner, cyclist, and skier, and has a major passion for cooking, entertaining, and decorating. Moss works with several charitable organizations that strive to improve the lives of children in the areas of health, wellness, and education. Most notably, Moss is involved with the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford University, where she works as a volunteer, directly with patients from birth to adolescence undergoing treatment for and recovering from various diagnoses in the areas of hematology, oncology, cardiology, and general surgery.

Lisa Slone Moss currently lives in the heart of the Silicon Valley with her daughters, Maxine and Tyler.
